Runner up in hackathon sponsored by
Google and New York University

Commuting to Manhattan from Staten Island poses unique logistical challenges. To come up with innovative transit solutions, NYC's bus operator, MTA, sponsored a hackathon with Google and New York University. For this event, the MTA released for the first time proprietary ridership data for its bus network.

A multi-disciplinary team was formed with professional transit planners. We analyzed the hackathon's data using professional geospatial software (ESRI ArcGIS) and other tools. Following a detailed consideration of local commuting factors, we built a proposed solution that took second place.
