UN Sustainable Development

Redesigning the United Nations' most popular website

The UN's Sustainable Development website is one of the organization's busiest, seeing between 2-3 million pageviews per month. It's targeted at the general public, helping them understand global development challenges. However, the amount of content has grown over time, limiting discovery and navigation. Its design has became dated.

External designer Madelena Mak was recruited to reimagine the website. She conducted extensive research and came up with a modern kit-of-parts design that follows UN brand standards and applies them to individual content components.
